Occupational Health Registered Nurse Job Requirements
Principal Duties:
Provides occupational health services to employees and other personnel within UMCAP
Provides high quality, safe and appropriate triaging to UMCAP employees with work-related injuries and illnesses. Confers with Director as needed
Evaluates symptoms of work-related illnesses and injuries and provides treatment, training, and counseling related to safe practice and injury prevention
Performs pre-employment health screenings
Assists with conducting urine drug screen process per non-DOT regulations
Assists with routine desk and office activities as needed
Exhibits good judgment in interpreting medical facts presented by a physician and applying these facts in determining an individual's capacity to engage in gainful employment
Establishes and maintains employee health records h. Assists with conducting immunization program 2 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts TB screenings and follow-up annually on employees per policy
Assists with the management of needle stick and other blood borne pathogen exposure incident
Assists with the maintenance of employee health files, ensures files are accurate, organized and up-to date in regards to immunizations, medical surveillance, and annual health reviews.
Performs fit-testing for employees, as required by TB policy m. Assists with the operation of the UMCAP wellness program
Assists with implementation of communicable disease prevention to include collaborating with infection control staff, serologic screening for immunity against communicable disease, managing employees with communicable disease exposure, annual influenza vaccine program
Assists in the timely processing/management of Worker's Compensation claims
Investigates work-related accidents, processes Workers' Compensation claims in a timely manner, manages WC cases by collaborating with supervisors, WC insurance adjuster, and injured worker
Evaluates accident reports to determine accuracy, completeness and to ensure adequate investigation; ensures that the hospital is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations both Federal and State.
Acts as a support resource person on health matters, reviewing such items as Physician reports regarding employee health, Workers Compensation insurance claims, medical restrictions for employee's work, and the policies and procedures of the medical department
Conducts OSHA required health surveillance examinations and documents results as directed by the Director 3.
Works closely with the Director of Employee Health and Assistant Director of Benefits on Wellness initiatives.
Work Experience
Education/License Requirements
Graduation from an approved Nursing program
Current Maryland license in good standing as a registered nurse.
Preferred: 5 years as RN
Basic Life Support (BLS) Through American Heart Association
