VHB’s Wethersfield, CT office is seeking a Senior Highway Project Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and growing Transportation Team, and to be a part of delivering CT's roadway and safety projects. This position provides an opportunity to lead complex transportation projects while playing an important role in expanding and shaping the group. We are looking for someone with a blend of project management skills, technical expertise, and innovative thinking. Experience working with CTDOT is required and experience with local agencies is a plus.

Responsibilities
Serve as Senior Project Manager for CTDOT and Municipal clients
Develop and manage client relationships
Manage staff, and provide technical and professional development of staff
Assist with strategy for expansion of transportation services throughout CT
Monitor project financial performance
Attend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss/navigate transportation design/permitting challenges
Develop and execute scope associated with transportation design projects
Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners
Develop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissions
Managing large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.)
Assist with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase
Pre-design project planning and financial management
Design of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permitting
Development of technical design and specification documents

Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in highway engineering
Advanced knowledge of state regulations governing transportation design
Software: MicroStation Open Roads Designer, Civil3D a plus
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required
Master's degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience
11-15 years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 5 years of experience working with CTDOT required
Professional Engineer (PE) license required; CT PE preferred
Substantial professional expertise with progressive highway design projects required
