Responsibilities
VHB is seeking an individual to work within a team of highly motivated engineers to produce fully coordinated reports, plans, specifications, and deliverables. This may include:
Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects including development of geometric horizontal and vertical layout, grading and drainage design, and utilities layout
Preparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specifications
Development of 3D modeling for conceptual highway alignments
Typical section development
Preparation of right-of-way and easement plans
Coordination with design team, clients, subconsultants, and stakeholders
Construction support services (review of submittals and RFIs)
Skills and Attributes
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
Team oriented and motivated to lead/mentor junior staff
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
Knowledge of local and state regulations for highway design
Solid report writing skills
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
5-8 years of highway transportation design engineering experience required
Professional Engineer license
Proficiency in MicroStation required
Master’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
Knowledge of CTDOT policies, procedures and design standards preferred
