YOUR NATIONAL/WORLD NEWS DAY 22 AUGUST 2014 Salt Lake City, UT
Is your tea sweetened? August 14, 2014 Unfortunately, the 65 year old Utah woman wanted her tea sweetened discovered that glass of tea wasn't sweet at all. The woman and her husband were having lunch at the local restaurant discovered the unlikely taste of burning in her mouth. The tea she drank from the self-serve station had been sweetened with a toxic industrial cleaning solution called "sodium hydroxide" looks much like granulated sugar. Jan Harding and her husband and friends knew something went wrong when the woman spewed the tea from her mouth. She was quoted as saying " I think I just drank acid!" Four days later, Mrs. Harding was fighting for her life with serious burns on her tongue and mouth as she was reported unable to talk. The grandmother and her party were dining at the ****ey's Barbeque Pit in Salt Lake City, Utah. This opened investigations that a worker mistakenly used the toxic cleaner for granulated sugar and used it to sweetened the tea. After some investigations, there was some questions to be answered as to why a toxic cleaning product was kept near where sugar and other food goods were stored. The restaurant chain at the same location is said to have some violations going on since this is the second incident the same product was used as a sweeter. Lawyers for Mrs. Harding said they have a strong case in a law suit. Presently, Mrs. Harding is slowly recovering, however the burns are said to be critical.
