This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.
About the Job
SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for sourcing for PetSmart’s Proprietary Brands. In this role you will be responsible for creating and executing a sourcing strategy which includes managing the relationships with key contract manufacturers. The sourcing manager is responsible for ownership of costing and commercial terms negotiations to ensure the suppliers exceed the PetSmart standard related to quality, cost, and delivery. This role will work collaboratively with key internals teams including Brand Management, Product Development, and Quality. This position will be involved in the innovation process from the identification of a supplier through the RFQ process to the handoff to the production management team. You will also be responsible for working on continuous improvement opportunities to ensure value creation to drive cost savings and efficiencies to the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Create and execute the sourcing strategy for PetSmart’s proprietary brands
Support growth through leveraging existing supplier matrix to drive best value
Understand cost modeling to be able to effectively analyze product costing
Collaborate cross functionally with internal teams such as Product Development, Quality, Brand, and Production Management to qualify suppliers, assess their capabilities and coordinate new vendor onboarding
Conduct benchmarking exercises to identify changes in the market and understand changes in the supplier base
Establish and manage the RFQ (request for quotation) process, effectively summarize and communicate results and recommendations to various levels in the organization
Negotiate quality, cost, and delivery as well as other contracts terms with internal stakeholders and the suppliers
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure new product launches are executed on time
Measure supplier performance through scorecards and quarterly business reviews to ensure KPIs are being met by the supplier base
Help lead continuous improvement in process and production efficiency, deliver on cost reduction targets in compliance with quality expectations, identify product “value” opportunities for Brand/Buying to utilize
Lead vendor innovation summits with suppliers
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in a related field.

Occasional evening calls with Global Sourcing partners
Up to 25% travel required
