This role requires a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join the General Accounting Department. As Senior Accountant, you will provide critical technical accounting support, including the preparation of journal entries, variance analysis, monthly and quarterly financial statements, and account reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will also lead and mentor Staff Accountants, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Journal Entries & Reconciliation: Accurately prepare and post journal entries; maintain monthly reconciliations for all assigned balance sheet accounts.
Financial Statements:Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and internal policies.
Variance Analysis:Organize and lead the monthly variance analysis process; clearly communicate findings to the Director of Accounting, Controller, or CFO.
Audit Preparation:Assist in preparing interim and year-end audit schedules; maintain discretion when communicating with auditors.
Team Leadership:Supervise and provide guidance to Staff Accountants, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development.
Payment Processing:Prepare and obtain approvals for ACH/wire transfer requests; initiate payments via the hospital banking portal.
Close Processes:Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and inventory procedures.
Process Improvement: Actively participate in process improvement efforts and recommend enhancements to workflows as needed.
Adhere to HIPAA requirements and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or CPA is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in general accounting, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) and Word; familiarity with general ledger and financial reporting software.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in healthcare accounting is a plus; public accounting experience from a Big 4 or regional accounting firm is also preferred.
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to produce high-quality output.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
