Librarian
Murray Library, at Messiah University invites applications for a full-time, 11-month librarian position (August 1-June 30) with faculty status as part of the Community of Educators.

Qualifications: Minimum of ALA-accredited Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in an academic library. A second master’s degree would be helpful to enhance liaison support of academic departments. Preferred skills include client-side web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), reference experience, and experience using Alma/Primo and Counter 5 reports.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include shared librarian duties such as library instruction, collection development, reference services; unique responsibilities include serving as primary contact with vendors and ITS for all digital resources; analyzing print and digital collections to identify strengths, gaps, overlap and uniqueness of the collections; compiling usage data for annual statistics and accreditation processes; providing oversight for print and individual online serials; contributing support for client-side web technologies; serving as webmaster for the library home page and Primo interface; and serving as liaison to assigned academic departments.

Murray Library: The library provides a welcoming place for individual and group study, and a relaxing environment, including Café Diem. The physical collection includes approximately 235,000 volumes and the online resources accessed through Primo, our discovery service, include 130+ online databases with thousands of full-text journal articles, 800,000+ebooks and 100,000+ streaming videos. The information literacy program builds a foundation with first-year students and continues with discipline-specific instruction for upper-level classes contributing to student research success using library resources. The library connects with students via social media and offers innovative events such as Mini Golf in the Stacks, Live Clue, The Human Library, and more.
