IT Functional Areas

Software Development
Experience or interest in developing UI components or building APIs. Preferred skills include knowledge of application technologies such as: WPF, MVVM, Windows Forms, SQL Server, DB2, Spring Boot, Vue.JS, React, Redux, C#, Java, VB.NET, ASP.NET, IIS, XAML, etc. You will be participating in working on an in-house application, either testing, providing UI feedback, and developing user interface components or developing an API.
Data and Reporting Analyst
Experience or interest in relational databases, business intelligence tools, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), data analysis, data governance, data mapping, data dictionary work, knowledge of Jira, Confluence and Tableau.
DevOps Intern
Develop and assist in maintaining software automation tool used to manage source code, builds, testing frameworks, artifacts, deployment, monitoring & configuration of the various RBC US WM applications. Understand the needs of consumers for whom the tools and systems are being developed. Understand the standard SDLC and CI/CD concepts, practices and procedures. Participate in the design and development internal solutions that meet the functional requirement and maintainable over time. Take part in code reviews and ensure to follow RBC US WM coding standards around all aspects of development. Partner with QE team to develop unit tests and other automated validation tests to verify solutions are working as expected. Research, troubleshoot and fix issues in the DevOps pipeline.
SRE Intern
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is an exciting and emerging role that applies engineering discipline to proactively solve operational problems, focused on mitigating incidents while optimizing large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems with the goal of improving overall availability, reliability, resiliency, scalability, performance and customer experience. As a SRE Intern you will take part in implementation of SRE framework and best practices across RBC portfolio of applications. Help the team create solutions for centralized monitoring and logging of incidents. You will also be taking part in updating and maintaining of system design documentation along with updating and maintaining of SRE standards.
Solutions Architect Intern
As an intern working with the Solutions Architecture team at RBC, you will be exposed to the practice management aspects of enterprise solution architecture and governance. You will shadow our principal architects, and assist them in the development of a rationalized solution. You'll develop professional consultative and technology leadership skills used to architect solutions that meet overall business outcomes and goals, while aligning to technology strategies. You will take part in our goal to help our business grow in a highly competitive market, and thrive in an evolving digital world by enabling our application development teams to deliver technology solutions that moves RBC capabilities forward.
UI/UX
Solid knowledge of user interface design process and methodology. Preferred fields of study include interaction design, visual design, human-computer interaction, human factors, or computer science.
Project Management
Responsible for successful project management framework and delivery. This includes coordination, follow-up, documentation, auditing, communication plans, governance, data entry, and processing forms. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Work with Business/Technology Owners to ensure projects achieve the business result that enables value creation. Working knowledge of PMF, SDLC, and Agile delivery methodologies is preferred.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior (graduation dates May 2023 – May 2025) with a degree granted or expected in Software Engineering or Development, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or another technology-related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of IT applications, software and systems
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in financial services industry
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship, which runs June to August (specific dates may vary) and reports to the Minneapolis, MN office

RBC anticipates our internship programs to be in a hybrid work environment for Summer 2023.This is subject to change according to COVID or other public health restrictions.Interns are responsible for their own housing, meals and travel expenses.
