Research Associate 1
The Miami Project at UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Research Associate. The Research Associate 1, SOM supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research. Our research is focused on spinal cord injury and neuropathic chronic pain and development of cell transplantation therapies. Ideal candidates will have previous background and experience in growing and maintaining cell cultures, particularly working with stem cells and neural progenitors. Experience in handling small rodents, including surgical implantations and behavioral testing is also desirable. Familiarity with biomatrices, immunocytochemical and biochemical assays would be a plus. The Research Associate must be capable of working under minimal supervision following training. Necessary training for sp ecific methods and procedures will be provided. The Research Associate will be expected to provide timely reports and participate in data analysis and presentation of results for scientific conferences, publications, and grant applications.

Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
30% Maintain cell cultures, prepare culture media, evaluate growth and differentiation of cells
25% Immunocytochemical and biochemical analysis of cell cultures
20% Rodent surgical implantation and behavioral testing
10% Assistance in immunocytochemical analysis of tissue
10% Prepare reports, assist with manuscript submissions
5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required
No prior experience required
